Creating a Custom Palette of Brushes

1. On a white piece of paper (using whatever pen/brush/marker/stencile etc) draw out a few points for your custom brush tips.
It helps if the brush tips are round, this will allow for a more realistic stroke
2. Scan/Photograph them and open the scan/photo in Photoshop.

3. Using the Marquee tool (quick key "m") select the first brush tip.

4. Under the "edit" tab, select "Define Brush Preset"

5. Name the brush.

6. Now select the brush tool (quick key"b") and then select the drop down to select a different brush. Your new brush will be the last one.

7. You can draw with your new brush now, however you might want to edit the preset so that it has a more realistic stroke. You can edit the preset of the brush in the "Brush palette" window under the "Window" tab at the top. Under that menu you will be able to edit the size of your brush tip, the spacing, the rotation, and many more other traits of the brush.click this image for a larger view

Sections of the Brush Palette
1.Brush Tip Shape section - where you edit the size, rotation, roundness, and spacing of brush
2.Spacing-This will edit how fluid the stroke of the line is. With no spacing it is one continueous line, if the space is large, it will be a dotted line.
3.New preset icon- if you want to save your brush for future use, this is the button you press. Otherwise your preset will be lost.
